Stan - I can easily answer your question but it seems
you prefer an answer from Robert - so be it.

"What you are asking us to accept is that post-70 A.D. believers receive a glorified, yet different, body upon death. So, how is that a resurrection according to 1 Cor 15 cited above?"

That is a very good question Stan. I think it deserves an answer but I fear that all you will get is the run around. While you are asking Brian such good questions, why not ask him why Polycarp who was a disciple of the Apostle John was looking forward to the resurrection of his flesh early in the second century.

"O Lord God Almighty, the Father of thy beloved and blessed Son Jesus Christ, by whom we have received the knowledge of Thee, the God of angels and powers, and of every creature, and of the whole race of the righteous who live before thee, I give Thee thanks that Thou hast counted me, worthy of this day and this hour, that I should have a part in the number of Thy martyrs, in the cup of thy Christ, to the resurrection of eternal life, both of soul and body, through the incorruption [imparted] by the Holy Ghost...." (prayer of Polycarp at his martyrdom A.D 156-160)

He likes to mock Christians for not asking tough questions of their leaders but when I asked him this, all he could come up with was that Polycarp was not inspired. Very weak answer. When pressed, he claimed history was unimportant. He never did give me a reasonable response but perhaps you will get a better result than I did? I appreciate you de-lurking.

Good afternoon Stan,

I see by the number of posts over the weekend much has been discussed. I haven't had a chance to read them as of yet, hopefully time will permit me that liberty.

You stated;

<<< What you are asking us to accept is that post-70 A.D. believers receive a glorified, yet different, body upon death. So, how is that a resurrection according to 1 Cor 15 cited above >>>

Stan, please keep in mind that the resurrection has ALREADY taken place, at the end of the " age ", officially 70AD.

Have you had the opportunity to read a classic by J Stuart Russell called " The Parousia " ?, it would clarify much of what is discussed on this thread from a preterist view of scripture.

Should I vacate this body now, while I am writing this post to you, I would immediately go to be with my Lord and receive my glorified body.
My mortal body would be at least three days before it would be put in the ground, if I am to be buried.

Cremation would be similiar.

My spirit and soul do not linger around waiting to be re-united with my body of dust..........thats absurd.

I could care less what happens to this body of dust........................scripture teaches from dust it came and from dust it will return.

I trust I have answered your question.

Grace and peace to you.

Robert
