With its XScale and StrongARM processors, Intel claimed a 45% market share in PDA processor shipments and projects its share will grow to 60% by the end of 2004

Very impressive !! Unfortunately the PDA market is stagnant or shrinking ! The PDA is squeezed between the "intelligent cell phone" and WiFi Laptops.

Intel should have made major inroads into the intelligent cell phone market by now with its superior products like the Manitoba chip (which integrates an excellent processor and flash.)

Unfrtunately Intel bungled badly by raising its Flash prices to the cell phone market. It was the largest flash vendor at Nokia, but it was thrown out. Financially floundering AMD got a breather and was admitted into Nokia. The cell phone manufacturers are now very wary of working with Intel.

The arrogance in raising prices has taken a heavy toll !
