Any method is as effective as the people and the authorities can make it to be. We already have existing laws, the I9. I say enforce it with the farm owners. The illegals already get low wages. YOu think that payment under the table will go away? Paying under the table is a second tier economy, the US underworld economy. It won't go away with Bush's proposed law changes, do you think? So if we vigorously enforce the laws, come down on the WalMarts heavily, then illegal immigration will stop.

The solution to stopping the tide of illegals crossing the border is to stop the progress of making Yucca Mountain, Nevada the nuclear waste buriel ground for all the nuclear material generated by nuclear power plants in the US. We should just spread it along the border like characters drop bread crumbs in fairy tails. There is no reason for a US citizen to cross the border anyway. The Spanish conquistadors took all the pretty women of Mexico back to Spain. You can buy tequila here. All that is needed is to keep them from coming up north. My answer - the nuclear deterrent.
