I did sell half my position, and NT seemed strong Friday in the face of a weak market and a multi day telecom run. I am looking to put the 50% of my NT money into something that maybe hasn't benefitted wuite yet. I am looking at COVD, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. You have any ideas?

I can't believe the suddent interest in Nortel stock is based soley on Verizon.

I believe we're seeing the "next big thing" in Telecom right now. This weekend, I received a flyer from Primus offering Internet phone service for $20Cdn monthly with unlimited North American long distance for an additional $20Cdn.

If the incumbent monopoly analog telephone companies want to stay in business, they have no choice but to upgrade their networks, not just in Canada or the US, but globally.

Further it would appear from the Verizon win, that Nortel must have a price/performance advantage with its VoIP technology. VZ had been a major LU customer.

So I expect that we're going to see a major ramp up in Communications Equipment sales. The question remains how profitable it will be for any of the participants.

Until we see profit ramping up, I'd be hesitant to predict increasing stock prices for any of the participants.

FWIW,
Ian
