We have a saying at work...

"No common sense applied"

And that's how you interpret scripture James. No common sense applied. Paul said that once in one place. It could not mean what you say because we know that was not true at that time. The Gospel had not reached every tribe, tongue, and people in all the world. Peter warned that Paul's writings were often misunderstood. And also twisted by the untaught.

"20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

The Romans have not been the only armies to surround Jerusalem. And when the Romans did, there had not been a Great Tribulation like never before on earth, nor ever again. SO bad that the days had to be cut short or no flesh would be saved. That did not happen in 70 AD. It hasn't happened yet, even today. Armies will surround Jerusalem again, in our time. Then the end will come and the Lord will return the 2nd time.
