Not many people are cognizant of the awesome power of explosives. I used to fill perhaps 6 drill holes on a bank, 6 footers, with perhaps 30 sticks of 90% forceite. I would let it go, after pulling back 1/4 mile to watch. This was in the days of tape fuze. You would get blocks of about 5 tons (5 foot in diameter) hurled 300 feet in the air. Some stuff went up 1500 feet. You could remove 100 tons at a time.

One 50 pound stick of dynamite, (yes they have 'em, about 3 feet long, 6 inches in diameter) if exploded on top of hard ground, will knock you off your feet from a 1/4 mile away -- if there is nothing between you and the blast.

The war movies with men taking cover while grenades and shells explode all around them are some bogus. A single 160 round landing in the vicinity of a company of men would pretty well take them all out. Those that were not killed outright would be walking around in a daze a day later. One V1 missile landing in a city block area of London with 2500 lbs of explosive would take down almost the entire block, reducing maybe 30 houses to rubble.
