I'm really disappointed to see that you have not included the Merchant Marine fleet in your new list Josh. My dad served during WWll transporting weapons, men and supplies back and forth to the Pacific Theater during that war as well as transporting German POWs back to Europe after that war.

He also did service during the Korean War with the Merchant Marine fleet.

Then there were my great, great grandfathers on both sides that served in the Union Army during the Civil War as well as great!!! grandfathers that served in the Revolutionary War......but that's a different story. <g>

My father served in WWII, in the 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division. He saw action on Iwo Jima.

sullie6 (my wife) Her father was an Able Seaman (Seaman 2c) in the Merchant Marines in WWII, in both the Atlantic & the Pacific. Her uncle, who served in the Navy in WWII, was on a ship that was sunk during the Murmansk Run to Russia (he was rescued).

*who may or may not be "heroes." Troops in active combat have my hope that they get out of there without sacrificing life and /or limb. I do not "support" the Iraq war to enrich Bush, Cheney and their buddies; and not anyone in the Bush Adminstration, nor its foreign policy; nor its domestic policy.

Thanks to all and please help give our brave soldiers the support and encouragement they deserve.

I pledge my support and encourage everyone else to do the same.

In that end, I will vote for Clark for the Democratic nomination, and anyone other than the current idiot in the whitehouse in the general election.

If enough people do this, the killing will stop and our troops will come home. The very best support you can give these troops is your assurance that you will vote the current lunatic in the whitehouse out of there.

You can add me in.......

FRIENDS SUPPORTING OUR AMERICAN HEROES - jmhollen

I'm the son of a US Navy SeaBee, who then ran the Panama Canal for 20+ years. I tore up my right shoulder in a cycle wreck a week after scoring "..7th higehest.." ever on the Army Helicopter exams back in '67 (..had just graduated from flight school in FL..) - or I could have requested a listing as a CWO under the US Army heading here. The Receiving Center CO actually 'guaranteed me' "..fixed-wing school..", after I'd gone through all the helicopter courses.

When I see a Cobra crusing over Iraq, it realy grinds my grits that I can't participate. As I mentioned on the GDubya board, if they'd lend me a uniform and an armed O-2 Skymaster or OV-10 Bronco, I'd be there in a freakin' flash...!!!

John :-)
