Searle, <if one keeps re-inventing culture every day then it is just like having values which one changes every day --- one hasn't any.> And maybe a corollary: if everyone has the individual freedom to choose their own values, the society hasn't any?

So what do you pick? A society the favors individual freedom (and no broad, commonly accepted societal values) or one that tends toward conformity but with clear values. Or a world with some of each (and let each society choose for itself)?
