The socialists can be converted. The religionists can't.

I don't think so. The misery of the 20th Century came from the secular collectivists. The only Religion left that wants, or thinks it can get, a Theocracy anymore is Islam.

As I said before, we hear a lot of "noise" about Religious repression in this country, but I don't see it. What I see here is secular repression.

I agree.

Except that the "process" of convincing is far too long and costly.

Most of the "socialist-converts" arrive at their own "Jesus moment" when they have experienced on their own flesh the results of their own ideology, and this after a long struggle... by then... (in practical terms), who cares about their conversion, the cost is destructive, it is to late. I suppose that in the very long term it may matter...

...then again, in the long term too, we will all be dead... -g

Religio-zealots are a lost cause. They have surrendered their mind, (even by their own words and choosing) to a ghost, an imaginary elf, a blood thirsty and sacrificial-hungry monster. Of course they are hopeless... The only reason I care is because they are dangerous.

The reason both monsters succeed is because our human nature is weak, and defective. Generally speaking, we are greedy and fearful; we love to be told someone else is going to take care of us. Above all... we cannot accept that when we are dead, we are dead. FINITO, KAPUT, TERMINADO. No, we hang on for dear life to the belief that there is an after life... an all-mighty deity that is the origin and source of all...

Ironically, we tell ourselves that this is an entity of love and kindness, yet in the same sentence, we also tell ourselves that this same entity can is as mean as Hitler, Stalin and the Ayatollah and ready to send us to a fiery hell...

I have no problem with all that... until of course they start forcing it dwn my throat... that's why they are dangerous.

Anyway... you and I seem to be in the same page.
