Hi Jmhollen;

The theme is that the Bush war on terrorism is simply a ploy that is being used to sustain/maintain the presence of all the American troops based all around the world. Were it not for the war against terrorism, there would be next to no valid reasons for keeping American troops in most of these places.

In Europe, this type of reporting has come ever more to the fore since neither President Bush nor Prime Minister Blair have yet managed to produce the WMDs which were, supposedly, the central reason for the need to attack, invade, and occupy Iraq. This type of argument is politically dangerous to the current US basing and military presence across continental Europe.

If, in the end, Europeans do reach the conclusion that they were in fact lied to by the US and Great Britain, it is certain that they will then conclude that both the US and Britain are also lying about the REAL military and political purpose of keeping their troops on the soil of Europe.
