You think he bypassed confusion and went straight to mindless, useless, hideous torture.

James - you am I agree that those prophecies were "at hand"
and that the message was sent to the very real seven churches
of that time - about 62 AD telling them to "hold fast"
that Jesus would return to avenge them soon.

I also think that we agree on their being but two earthly "aions" ages.

Although we could divide up what happened before Christ into
different ministrations
it was still the same changing priesthood - precursor - shadows and types
that came before the "Gospel Aion" that age that ended all other ages.

Allan is still looking for an age to end ages.

He does not realize it is here because he looks for an abolishment
of physical death and sin - paradise restored on earth.

I do not expect any such earthly age.

I am however alarmed at how many preterist actually deny
eternal punishment
and predestination - it amazes me that men can see some things
so plainly and yet be utterly blind to others as I am sure
Alan thinks of me concerning his concept of "salvation for all"

I, as a man, think that it would be great if God did in fact
in the end save all men and even satan and the fallen angels
but scripture does not present that as the GOAL of what God did.

It is plain that Jesus did not lay down his life for all men
else why would he have said that he "laid down his life for the sheep"
why would he not have said "I lay down my life for mankind"

Anyway - I do enjoy Alan as he does dig deep and study scripture
I do however think he is blinded to some very basic things.

James

I do not think that one can use an argument such as this one;

"Alan is preaching a confusing doctrine.
I don't believe that God is an author of confusion. "

We both know that God is not the author of confusion but
simply because we confuse someone it does not mean we are not of God.

Preterism confuses most people - they hold to so much man made
doctrine that it takes time to chip away at all that nonsense.

In the mean time they become confused - that does not prove that
what we are teaching is not of God.

I do not think what Alan is saying is what the bible teaches
otherwise I would join him but it can not be dispelled simply
because it is confusing.

Although I would agree Alan is very confused :-)
