The euro rose to a record against the dollar in London after Bundesbank Chief Economist Hermann Remsperger said the currency's surge won't hamper Germany's economic recovery.

The remarks by Remsperger to DeutschlandRadio Berlin on Sunday suggest he isn't ready to back currency sales or support lower interest rates to halt the euro's surge. Remsperger advises Bundesbank President and European Central Bank council member Ernst Welteke.

``We're not yet at the panic stage,'' Mike Newton, a currency strategist in Hong Kong at HSBC Holdings Plc, said in a televised interview with Bloomberg News. The ECB is ``still watching rather than shooting.''

Well I made my bet and I am happy with it.
Let's see how strong Europe's recovery is with the US $ falling like a rock.

BTW - I smell a possible setup.
A surprise rate cut would shock the system and catch a lot of jonny come lately US$ shorts.
