Brinks, I've come to the conclusion that if I make detailed analyses, they are not that helpful to me in making a buy decision, or a hold or sell decision either. I like to have what I call a "ruling reason" for buying a particular stock. It's generally categorical such as low p/e and low p/bk; perhaps revision to mean; maybe price below cash; maybe GAARP, maybe something else. When I buy, I usually can state the ruling reason within a couple of sentences. I haven't figured out if the ruling reason logic has been a factor in allowing me to move to such a diverse number of holdings, or if my proclivity for holding many shares has led me to try to justify 'ruling reason' in lieu of detailed analyses. -g-
