That's EXACTLY why the peacetime generals (i.e., bureaucrats) have been squawking about the reorganization of the armed forces. An army that can actually GET TO THE THE BATTLEFIELD WHILE THE WAR IS STILL ON requires far less than the organizational, over-weight monster they ill-spent their careers building. By the end of the 8 years of the Bush administration, the armed forces will be re-build for the CURRENT war, rather than the last-and talk of "overextension" will be seen for the JOKE it is...

Why is it that all your pseudo"sources" always seem to be retired, fired, or dismissed/resigned from the President's cabinet. I've spent more time around and/or working with/for our Military than I'll bet you have. And, I'm not willing to write them off quite as quickly as you are either. Wouldn't take but one phone call from GDubya and I'd report where ever to fly an armed O-2, etc., for the cause. Those of us who can - do; the rest just make funny noises and look for another crisis monger to hold their hand, aye. The ongoing effort in all Forces is to remove more people from the combat environment using improved hardware in theatre. The Military is always jockeying for more funds, people and toys - but, there is no reason to think that we can't provide the required defense for any situation/scenario that might currently arise. Your reliance on talking heads who are no longer involved belies your ignorance on what the real situation is. Have a mini-crisis and bury your head in the sand, Bubba. Our troops will be there to protect you despite of your irrational left-wing enforced personal FEAR.... John :-) ps: I have a wonderful life, ol' Son. I help design and build America.
