Yeah, welcome to Interaction Homo Discutiensis .... and thanks for at least not bragging about your god-size, in exchange i'll try to refrain from the simplistic conclusion that since one out of three nations on this planet are completely whacked out, the fact that my two countries are reasonably liveable means that your population of near three hundreds millions may not be absolutely perfect in every way -g-

Caricature works, to a point, but it's got its limits ..... still, when we come to positions so entrenched as that of the neocon We'll Decide For All versus the Domination Without Representation Is Tyranny stance of the Rest of Us, what else is left? .... not much nuancey fudge-factor room in this, either one side wins and the other loses, or we all lose, these are the only choices .... so pick a winner now, be the first on your block to back a Thoreau over an O'Sullivan

'... the last time an Administration got voted out of power for foreign policy reasons was when LBJ gave up and we got Nixon..of course, I won't make that argument for you. vbg'

That's not a reflection on me, but rather one on the nature of USA politics, under which Nixon could get elected on the lie that he would end the war ..... valid point though, there certainly is a pendulum of increasing-decreasing hostility projected from US administrations, and at the moment it does look as if we haven't yet seen the darkest point of this run .... this tune doesn't pipe the Rest of Us to quite the march you'd like, however

As this sphere gets shrunk by transport and communications, 'foreign policy' is going to keep getting increasingly domestic for all of us ...... can six-pushing-seven billions be ruled indefinitely from a few rooms in Washington? - most doubt this .... here's another number exercise - calculate the seigneurage benefit from planetary use of USD as medium of exchange and storehouse of wealth, then estimate the consequences of the flow being reversed .... what brought that to mind, was seeing that i have a stock running nicely today, apparently on the basis of their story that they plan to go out and look for some gold
