Clinton was impeached because he lied about something that was not even a matter of state. I'd put it a little different. Clinton was impeached because the republicans were out to get him, and they had the congressional power. Whether it was payback for Nixon and Reagan (Iran-Contra), or whether it was just the loathing that the radical right has for anyone the least bit liberal is irrelevant. They wanted to impeach and after years of witch hunts, they used whatever excuse they could get, giving no consideration to what was best for the country. But the Demos have little congressional power. Hence, almost no matter what Bush does short of raping a child on the White House front porch with cameras taping, he won't be impeached. JMO lurqer
