Were the french to declare they had a carte blanche to rule the Rest of Us because whackos had flown a plane The French did declare that, at the UN. We tried to negotiate with them, and they welched on the deal. We refused to accept permanent French protection of Saddam. The day Al Qaeda does manage to fly a plane into the Eiffel Tower (they've tried before), I suspect the French will get off their duffs and do something. But I don't think we'll try to stop them, like the French tried to stop us.
