Is it just me, or is Iraq beginning to look similar to the Russian occupation of Afghanistan?

John,

Its not you. <g>

We've bitten off more than we can chew. Things are getting worse instead of better and the ethnic tensions are beginning to raise their ugly head even with us as the common enemy. Yes, it looks like another Russian Afghanistan.

At least wrt the tactics of the opposition. There may be more Al Qaeda / Taliban leadership than we think, or maybe the Iraqi's are just copying a successful strategy.

There are over 1 billion people in the Muslim world. Al Qaeda/the Taliban's resources are nearly unlimited.
