Worry About Popularity of Low-Quality Stocks
Tuesday January 13, 9:08 am ET

By James J. Cramer, RealMoney Columnist

Let's just hope it's the January Effect. I'm talking about the heated and intense trading in many of the little guys, the garbage stocks, stocks like Internet Capital Group (NasdaqSC:ICGE - News) and CMGI (NasdaqNM:CMGI - News), that has been going on since the year began.

First, like Gary B. "Chartman" Smith, I agree that every stock deserves a second look. It is entirely possible that CMGI is a vastly improved company. It is also possible that it never should have gotten as low as it did. I will even stipulate that CMGI could be the next Nortel, the next Lucent, etc.
