I blame everyone who believed that faulty information, if they are not doing anything to correct the information gathering and information evaluation structure- you BET that is a plague on both your houses. I did not have access to intelligence reports and I was highly skeptical of the crap coming out of the WH. It was obvious Saddam was pinned, and equally obvious he couldn't ally himself with Al Qaeda- ideological enemies of his. Sometimes the enemy of your enemy is also your very bad ass enemy, and you can't take advantage of him. Such was the case with Saddam. I just can't get over how stupid our government is. No wonder they are so wasteful- they haven't got the brains to come in from the rain.

But the war is Bush's fault. He and his cabinet went out trolling for war, now they must bear the burden. They swore up and down we were threatened by Saddam, and in speeches they drew inexcusable connections between Saddam and 9/11- and no matter what the republicans say, they can't get around the fact that 40% of the US people think Saddam was involved in 9/11 BECAUSE of the Bush speeches. The lying that Bush did was to take things that were "information and speculation" and to spin them into what sounded like undeniable fact to justify a war. In a democracy such manipulation is anti-democratic and undermines the institutions most of us cherish (Obviously the fascist elements of the Us do not cherish truth and accountability in government, so I can only say "most" not "all").

Heard George Soros on NPR this morning. He discussed the PNAC - including Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz. He is donating money to several political groups to defeat Bush.

Anyone else catch the interview? Was on the Diane Reems show - 10 am Eastern.
