"I'm no fan of any dictator, including Saddam" Then why did you espouse the benefits of Iraq's citizens? Women in particular. When you do that, and don't mention the much worse BAD parts about his leadership, it appears that you support how it was. "I don't favor the Taliban" You have elaborated a bit more in this post to clear up your position, but the same response as above applies here. Mention the good, and not the bad and it appears that you support. "By the way, the overthrow of Saddam's regime pretty much assures that Iraq will not become an Iranian-styled religious government. Did you know this and do you know this?" This is what I believe, and what we will try to assure actually happens. Now it sounds like you are for America's action against Iraq. I agree with your statement above. "again it's my position his warring has created more hatred against American and from this growing hatred will spawn growing, not less, terrorism" I know this is your position. I disagree. Terrorists need to snuffed out, not bargained with. And I don't want to change what America is all about and has made us successful in hopes that the terrorists will start liking us. "Now, thanks to your Bush man, Al Qaeda may well be in all kinds of places in Iraq. I doubt they'll leave on their own and I doubt we'll capture them all. So what's this mean? More safety for our troops over there? Nope. It means more death and destruction for Americans and innocent Iraqis; it means Iraq is now like Israel." You really seem to fear the terrorists. The new Iraqi government (when formed) and the ever growing Iraqi police force will deal with these people. Nobody (except other terrorists) will support these people in Iraq. I believe there are a LOT MORE people that hate them and will fight them than join them. Its a dead end job. "When did we liberate the Iraqis?" We are doing it right now. "but we put more people in our jails per capita and our workers work longer hours than those in other "free" nations" We are a nation of laws, and if you break them, you can go to jail. This protects innocent people, and makes our society more safe and properous. As far as the working hours goes, we do work a lot of hours, but it is not forced. We like lots of toys, I guess. You can get by in America without an undue amount of work. You just most likely will not be rich. I'm not, and consequently I don't work some of the ridiculous (imo) hours that some do. "Heck, where I live I can't even buy a bottle of beer on Sunday unless I'm in a bar; and I can't even smoke my Chesterfields in a bar where everyone present is a smoker" I hate these kinds of laws too. Not sure these are the repubs fault though. "The Florida Supreme Court made its ruling. Are you in favor of home rule?" The ruling was wrong (they were remanded 9-0 by the USSC, didn't respond, and then made another ruling). They also threw out lower court rulings without review (against FL law) so they could give Gore an unfair advantage over Bush. Their final ruling was lambasted by the senior dem on the FL SC as a potentially AMERICA ruining event). I am in favor of LEGAL rulings that are fair. Do you know why they made the ruling? That is really what I was getting at. "And you make them only because I disagree with you" No, I make them because that is the conclusion I draw from your arguments. When a good one is made, I acknowledge it and debate it. Your further clarification in this post have helped me see that you are not for these entities, but the original post did not look that way (to me at least).
