I never said that a fair tax system would 'lower the price of gas'.

Just as occupying middle eastern countries doesn't seem to lower the price of gas either....

Producers will charge whatever the market will bear (with an eye out toward not encouraging the consumer nations to move to alternate energy technologies, of course.... OPEC learned that lesson.)
