I rarely see the point in talking to, or reading, people who are polarized on a different side of the issues from myself- if I want their POV I can read it elsewhere, and get it from much better writers than there are on SI. You appear to be one of these polarized people, judging from the end of your post, and if you are, I'll soon put you on ignore.

But, on the offchance you are actually looking to discuss anything and take in information on SI, I want you to consider this:

The US had NO justification to attack Iraq using UN resolutions when going in without the UN. There is no precedent under international law, or any other kind of law, to allow an individual country or person to usurp for itself the enforcement of the laws of a governing body- without explicit legal authorization- which, of course, the US did not have. So, let's not be silly and talk about the US enforcing resolutions for the UN, when the UN was not involved- ok?

Second, the old "WMD's", which we were totally cool with when they were being used on Iranians and Kurds, back in the 80's when Saddam was our pal, are so degraded now they could not be used for anything anywhere, much less delivered to the US in any way. The weapons we were sure of were these "conventional" WMD's- that we knew Saddam had used (when we were friends with him, yes we were, pals with an WMD user).

The existence of WMD's that could be delivered to the US was the excuse for this war, and it is those WMD's that may never have existed, and the programs may not even have been in the works. Yes, Virginia, you DO need to show us those weapons, or their likely production, because without them the US was not in danger, and we did not need to wage a preemptive war with a crummy little pre-squashed power. You can finesse that point from here to next Tuesday, but if nothing turns up, it's clear you and your fearless leader had no cause for war- as it was sold and packaged for the American propaganda consumer.

The reality is that there continue to be 2 million liters of chemical agent that go unaccounted for - 2 million liters that could be stored in a very small, unventilated, hidden space.

Come on! Do you think you could store a million 2-liter soda bottles in your living room? Even if you empty it out of the bottles? That'a a half million gallons. It would take more than 40 of Shamu the whale's seaworlds to hold 2 million liters. Kay didn't find so much as a thimblefull.

That's what I call gullible.

EDIT - I miscalculated, it's more than a million gallons, so you have to add another 40 whale habitats to stuff that Kay couldn't find.
