UPDATE - Dollar fall orderly, Fed's Pianalto
says

(Adds additional Pianalto comments)

KENT, Ohio, Jan 13 (Reuters) - Cleveland Federal Reserve President Sandra Pianalto
said on Tuesday the dollar's hefty slide had been controlled so far and she noted that
the currency had suffered worse.

"There has been larger dollar
depreciations in the 1980s and so
far the depreciation has been
orderly," she told an audience at
Kent State University.

The currency has slipped by more
than 40 percent from its peak
against the euro in late 2001. Many
Europeans fear the dollar's slide is
hurting their exports and want
foreign exchange issues addressed
at a Group of Seven meeting in
Florida next month.
