Tim,

re: The situation in Iraq really isn't very like Vietnam. 3 American soldiers being killed in Vietnam wouldn't get news attention.

Congratultions on your ability to count body bags. I'm sure that's reassuring to the parents of the victims of this war. But, as you well know, that wasn't my point.

Frankly, I'm going to follow the example of my new hero, GWB, and disengage. When somebody came on this thread after being off for a long time, and said everybody had the same opinion as when he left, I realized that both "sides" were spinning their wheels.

Actually, we're all on the same side, we want what's best for the US. People on this thread really care... probably we have more in common, and more of a common opposition than we realize. The real problem is those folks that don't give a damn about politics or policy, and they far outnumber us.

Regardless, I'm done with pissing matches on this thread; it's a waste of my time and yours. As far as I can tell nobody has changed their opinion one bit because of any of my many posts, and frankly, nobody has changed my opinion.

So I'll post some news now and then when it seems on topic. And I'll read the posts. But no more debates... no one here has an open mind.

John

The situation in Iraq really isn't very like Vietnam. 3 American soldiers being killed in Vietnam wouldn't get news attention. At the peak of Vietnam you had about as many Americans dieing in a week as the number of Americans that have died now.

No, its more like Afghanistan during the Russian siege. Its too bad the right will have to spend another three years going through this insurgency before they will get it.
