You know this whole idea came out of NASA. Why? It gives them an "out" from the whole shuttle/spacestation failure. They knew what they had would not work. They knew they could not get the money to replicate it with newer models.

So what to do? A new Moon/Mars mission that keeps them going They can dump the shuttle/spacestation in the excitement. And this is all about funding. "No Bucks, no Buck Rodgers!" And no money for that NASA/Postoffice Bureaucracy.
