Señor, the US sends somethjing like $100B a year home to México. That's a LOT of pesos, particularly for a developing economy. It ain't like the US has no influence in these matters. It has, but for it's own stupid political reasons, it has not used it.

As I said, if México wants an equal and fair partnership, give it to them. But if they insist the game must be played by their rules, I say we pick up our ball and go home. I think they will see reason soon enough.

In the near future, the US market is going to be a fraction of the global market
Great. So México's choices are
let a flood of cheap Chinese imports in and kill their own industries, or
erect tariff walls and get kicked out of the WTO.

Some choices.

And the fact that the US and México aren't getting along won't bother China or India at all.

And the US still retains the advantage of being right across an imaginary line, not an ocean away.
