Aus, the Rochester paper also reported that Kodak will cease production of all APS film and cameras. The so-called Advanced Photo System was an attempt to gain a few cents extra profit on conventional film and cameras by including key data on the original image that would assure a photofinisher could get the correct color balance on the first try. Kodak spent about $4 billion (yes, billion) to develop the APS at a time when digital imaging was just coming into use. The real reason that Kodak has become a terrible investment is that its management still doesn't get it.
