Actually, there is reasonable debate over the necessity of the EC. Representative voting made sense when there was no communication technology to speak of. The Constitution provides for the Ammendment Process wherein lies its flexibility and its strength to survive changing times. When it was written, some did not think it would survive a generation. I think many of the FFs would be surprised to see it has survived this long and largely in its original form. It is YOU who neither understands or loves our Constitution. There is a boat leaving for the Afghanistan hinterlands and other medieval places.
