Okay, I'll check both machines tomorrow morning from 9:00 to 9:30 (local) and see if the problem is that they're getting swamped. Definitely sounds like it.

This has been a particularly frustrating day. I've been busy as hell, and didn't get a single line of code written for the new system.

There are those around me who think that the slowness in development has been due to an inability or refusal on my part to just knuckle down and do it, but the fact of the matter is that I'm pulled very hard in very many different directions. Most of today was spent trying to determine why iHub's server keeps shutting down and why the adserver both sites use frequently delivers empty ads and also needs frequent rebooting, and usually won't boot the normal way. All the while, a $4000 load-balancer has been sitting on a table behind me for about a month now because I lack the ready knowledge and the time to get it configured and run it up to the ISP and install it. And right after installing it, I need to install another webserver for iHub to split up the load. And while I'm up there, I need to come up with a way to truly rackmount all of iHub's equipment rather than just having it all stacked inside the cabinet.

Today's just a bad day, I guess. Worked my ass off, got nothing done, and about the only thing that really makes sense to do right now is to head home, take 4 Advil, a bottle of Guinness, and hope tomorrow's a better day.

Really in a bit of a catch-22 here. I'd practically give my right arm to have another geek, locally, who can handle things like iHub's and the adserver's reliability issues, installation of the load-balancer, help me with the SI rewrite, help with iHub's new features, etc. But I won't be able to justify/afford another programmer until SI has its new interface and business model, and by then my need won't be as great.

Yes, need to head home, hear the sound of a bottle of stout being opened, and my daughter saying "Brilliant!" as she always does when she sees me drinking that stuff.

See y'all later. If I decide to drink several, I might get on so you can have the singular pleasure of chatting with a drunk SI Bob. <g>
