Zo Re..Lots of people believed there were. I believed there were. Seems though now, that we were all wrong. This is to be blamed on intelligence incompetence, no? Incompetance by the intelligence community, but also a lot of intentionally false intelligence by the anti Saddam groups, particularily Chabini's group. Chabini's group funneled any informant who has something bad to say about Saddam or the WMD to the CIA, and then claimed to have verified it through their contacts. Also, there are reports, that some of the scientists gave false reports to Saddam, to get more funding, claiming to have produced far more WMD than there actually was. So both Saddam and the intelligence community thought there were WMD, when in fact there were none. Which would explain Saddams actions before the war. The mobile WMD trailers, actually were in Iraq. However whether they made any WMD is problematical. On this note, this AM Ted Kennedy was on NBC. Katie asked Ted why GWB actions were political, when in fact the Dems and Clinton, had an official policy of regime change since 1998. Were they duped then also. Ted said, it was because GB actually acted upon that policy, while they were just passing laws, and policy, at that time to look good. Nobody thought somebody would actually do something. Then Ted launched into his GWB hasn't done anything for education and medicare etc. Then Matt asked him why he was against the education bill, when Ted co-sponsored it.
