When you do read them...it does come across as silly.
Prime minister to King...lol come on, you think this is good stuff?

Inside The Bush White House
"Its an amazing moment," said one senior White House official...."Karl just went from prime minister to king. Amazing . . . and a little scary. Now no one will speak candidly about him or take him on or contradict him. Pure power, no real accountability. Its just listen to Karl and everything will work out.. . . That may go for the president, too."
..."many of us feel its our dutyour obligation as Americansto get the word out that, certainly in domestic policy, there has been almost no meaningful consideration of any real issues. Its just kids on Big Wheels who talk politics and know nothing. Its depressing. Domestic Policy Council meetings are a farce. This leaves shoot-from-the-hip political calculationsmostly from Karls shopto triumph by default. No one balances Karl. Forget it."

"There is no precedent in any modern White House for what is going on in this one: a complete lack of a policy apparatus," says [former head of Bush faith-based programs, John] DiIulio. "What youve got is everythingand I mean everythingbeing run by the political arm. Its the reign of the Mayberry Machiavellis." --3 quotes from essay by Ron Suskind, Jan. '03
