I don't think it is remotely possible for the government to take any measure that would have an adverse impact on corporate profits. Doesn't matter who is in office, republican democrat or other, we worship at the alter of corporate growth. The only way the trend can possibly change is if enough people decide that having friends and neighbors with decent paying jobs is more important than being able to buy imported goods on the cheap. I'm not holding my breath for that.
