The vehicle has to be in a certain wt. class, and ostensibly used for business purposes, then you can write most of the cost off of your taxes. Of course that's only beneficial to those who pay enough taxes for the offsets. But if you can afford a Hummer, you're probably in that select group.

Basically you can elect to expense rather than depreciate the cost of the car up to $50,000.00. The truck has to exceed a given weight, I forget which but only the biggest SUVs qualify.

You can only expense it to the extent it is used for business, rather than personal, use. Commuting is personal use.
