A colleague of mine who is Korean just returned from a year's stay in Korea. I asked him "Do most Korean people really want the US army around?" I expected him to answer that most Koreans would like the US army to get out of Korea. To my surprise he said that both his own observation and polls tells him that about 2/3 of the South Koreans want the US army to stay. He said that the 1/3 are by far noisier. I have absolutely no opinion about this myself; I never set foot on Korean soil and know very little about the place.
