When my elderly mother died in Tucson, I dredged up a black dress from the back of my closet before flying out. I was surprised when most people including my relatives showed up in brightly colored slacks, t-shirts, and sandals. I guess that's just how they do it there. I was the one who stood out and looked odd. The only thing about it that bothered me was that I was stuck in pantyhose unnecessarily.

Seems to me that people deal with death in different ways and that we need to cut them some slack at that difficult time.
