You can say that again. The cruise was pretty much like NW falls; lots of fog at times, some rain, etc. You and Rosie know what I mean. It was all quite comfortable and the fog often enhanced the scenery, especially in College Fjord. Malila was getting her hair done, so she didn't get pictures of that spot, but, you know how the fog starts breaking in the hills, and sun shafts start appearing, and everything sort of glistens? One of those days.

When we hit Anchorage, we started seeing stories about a big storm inland, ie towards Denali. 2nd time that summer that there was flooding. The next day, we set out by bus for Denali in an intermittent rain. There had been some damage to the tracks, and,at one point, we had to drive thru an overflowing creek, which was flooding a small resort just off the highway. That spot reminded me of Guerneville, where my boys used to live, and where the Russian River regularly overflows.
So we get to Denali, and it is clearing. We were supposed to go on a 3 hr park tour on Tues, but I signed us up for a commercial 7 hr tour, which took us much further out. I should have gotten it together sooner, and we may have made it out to the Eilson visitor center, but ... As it was, we were the last bus back that night, and the dark photo of the sky and ridge was taken exactly at midnight walking back to our cabin.
Anyway, we didn't see much wildlife besides caribou; one moose, no bears. Maybe a distant goat. Neither of us minded. We could see Denali clearly the first time we had a chance to view it. Completely in the clear. This is very rare, since it tends to make its own weather. Saw it much better than Steve and I ever did. Some folks were saying it was the best view in 12 years. We were even luckier to be able it see it at sunset. It looked bigger than last I saw it. Maybe that is cuz it's growing about a millimeter a year.

The next day, it rained. The people who took the tour we skipped saw...zip. No wildlife, no mt.
Lucky, indeed.
