I don't think that piece deserved much attention. I recognized the barbarians the author described. They've been with us always--men could always be jerks. I don't see how that's a new thing. I didn't recognize the wimps. There have always been men who need women to build them up as the article described. What I didn't recognize was the negativity. Maybe that's what's new and I'm just not around enough young men to see it.

Back in my youth, boys may have had fathers but their fathers were often remote or harsh or neurotic or barbarians, themselves, so I don't know that the Murphy Brown syndrome is such a big deal. Anyway, the article didn't resonate with me.
