I am familiar with the wines L'Ecole, I like their Chardonay...

For value in wines i think the South American --Chile and Argentina-- (and some Rioja -Spain) cannot be beaten... great $12.00 - $17.00 wines and their flavors are superb...

Californa could learn to 'mellow' their Cabs with some Merlot in it... but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO they are machos and won't do it, in stead they end up with these 'pucker your mouth' to no end with a ton of tannin in them that won't mellow for at least 10 years...

Barbarians.... -gg

Wine from:

Chile (Valle del Maipo)

vino.com

Argentina (Mendoza)

vino.com

winesofargentina.com

España (Rioja is best --aside from Jerez de la Frontera for Sherry)

vino.com

Currently, I am exploring some Mexican wines... and frankly... I have mixed feelings as I know the regions have the potential due to their excellent general conditions in terms of weather, soil and available grapes...

however... I am finding the strangest combinations for blending grapes:

Merlot & Sirah (!)

Cabernet, Cariñan & Zinfandel (!) --actually, an ok wine

Cabernet & Nebbiolo it should be ok

Cabernet, Barbera & Tempranillo (!)

and so on.... except I am more traditional in my preferences... (transaltion: Chile, Argentina & Spain for value)
