Some pretty bone-jarring action, for sure. KGI, for example traded between 3.35 and 3.80. Volume was pretty thin. Shows the value of placing real stinky bids, sometimes they'll get filled. Tonight, they released some results that I thought looked good...all reported in ozs/ton...

Andy:

I don't think so. Let me give you a few reasons why. First see the HUI chart below it is a 3 month chart. Notice the double top in the 250 area with the midpoint bottom in the 220 area. Todays breakout below 220 projects a move to 190. Given the rapid technical deterioration we saw today I doubt your scenario will evolve. That is not to say we could not have a rally tomorrow or early next week as there is usually a pullback after a breakout. I for one will be looking to buy puts or short that pullback.

I would be very cautious about assumptions that this will be over in a few days. To be clear I don't think the bull is over, but I think the correction is here and I am looking for a correction of at least a month.

I agree sub 400 looks to be in the cards.
Whether stocks have bottomed out here or not is another question.
My guess is that we will be going lower on most of them.
The key here though is to note those that are bouncing back now the quickest and strongest.
Pay attention to those for the next bottom. I'm eyeing up BGO PAAS and PMU so far this morning
Surprisingly enough, GG is also jumping up on some pretty good volume too.

edit: Looking over my pages here
I see CBJ is finally showing some positive action.
After their earnings last week perhaps weak hands have exited it.
FWIW, I didn't like the size of their hedge the yare carying though.
