If growth was so robust why are long term rates at levels associated with a recession ?

Rates are at levels associated with...

Limited demand for capital from the private sector,

Strong demand for US securities (i.e. the supply of capital) from foreign (and domestic) investors,

An accommodative Fed policy,

And historically low inflation expectations.

Who are these "bond vigilantes" and what is it you think they are or should be "vigilent" about?

At one point in late Dec., according to cnbc, some retail assoc person said Christmas shoppers this yr just weren't buying things for themselves as they shopped as they usualy did - and that's why retail sales were lackluster.

I cracked up laughing.

hey Juniper had a good quarter. Good to see that, I have thought for some time that the networking sector is key to any kind of recovery. And personally I think my internet connection is slow, both where I work and home. Time to speed things up again. Anyway at least we can say results are mixed in tech. Microsoft will be bad just because microsoft will be bad. I was surprised with intel's guidance which was poor but the street is rewarding intel competition today so maybe analysts think it is company specific.
