if dean loses Iowa (which he was expected to win) he will be badly wounded going into NH and will only get his base vote, which is about 30% max. Both would be perceived as bad losses for Dean. Maybe mortal wounds. After all, if he cannot win NH by a landslide why he is a frontrunner?

Kerry the same, though now Kerry only has to run a strong
second to "win". The expectations game is always the real game. Clinton came in 2nd in Nh and finished off Tsongas who finished first.

Remember, the press told us dean was the frontrunner, but not a single voter had ever voted, therefore it was all on paper. In other words, it wasn't real. Reality may be about to destroy the Dean myth. In fact it almost certainly will. By Feb 3rd, Dean may be finished.
