This line at the end of that Today show O'Neill interview sums up why I don't waste my time with mainstream news media in this country :

"We're almost out of time. This is television after all."

As usual, people pushing an agenda take some sound bite quote or two out of context and the real issues get completely lost. "O'Neill's" book and the brouhaha surrounding it are prime examples, since what is pertinent is not yet more mudslinging about the Iraq invasion, but the fiscal irresponsibility of our government.

Anyway, thanks for the link. I am glad that at least the web has preserved the transcript for free (there is a Federal News paying site with all kinds of transcripts though, so it is possible to verify such transcripts in principle.)
