Windowshade X is better for me.

Agree. Why that ever got dropped from the OS is beyond my comprehension.

...hate the Dock...I'm testing Dragstrip right now.

What bothers your friends about the Dock? What advantages does Dragstrip bring to the table?

I was very excited about Expose but I've found that Windowshade X is better for me.

I decided to start using Expose by enabling it at the screen corners. I knew I would hit those corners a lot by accident and cause a lot of disruptions, but I figured it was the only way to really get use to using it. Now I find it is indispensable and, for me, far better than OS9 Windowshades ever was because I can go directly to any window without having to find and determine which rolled-up shade is the window I'm looking for, and then having to un-roll it. Once I got use to using Expose actuated at the corners, there is no faster way for me to navigate my desktop. Clearing the desktop of windows with a bump to my lower right corner is better for me than having a bunch of rolled-up shades cluttering the desktop.

Beware of the DragStrip. I used it for years and got used to it, but it is not intuitive to new users. A new user wants to click the close box on the pop-up window if they decide to not make a selection. That opens up a can of worms if they were not involved in the installation and don't know where DragStrip keeps its files. Next thing you know they are fishing around in the DragStrip menus and overwrite the conditioned strip with a new [blank] one.

I like the recipe tabs, but the interface is quirky to newbies.

The Dock, on the other hand is sweet. It is especially sweet with the "DockFun!" enhancement program.

Windowshade X is better for me.

Same here, as you know. So, downloaded and installed the Tiger versions of it, as well as their trusty FruitMenu...

unsanity.com

So far so good, knocking on wood...

P.S. After the Tiger install, as far as I can tell, everything is working like the charm; settings, preferences, looks, everything that existed for me before Tiger still seems to be exactly as I left it. Sweet.
