Yeah- -if it were generally known that that would happen.

So the interest is 5%. How do you know inflation will not be 10%? What will happen to your profits then?

Buy I-bills then.

Now that does require faith in the US gov'ts CPI numbers- -which I don't have. But in theory it solves that problem.

Or gold. The oldest money of all. Pays no interest, but gov'ts can't make more just by running the presses either. Of course, they CAN confiscate it, as was done in this country in the '30s.
