StudioWorks Releasing DVD of Drummer's Recently Discovered Films Documenting Controversial Bob Dylan 1966 World Tour
Thursday January 8, 3:11 pm ET
Rare Concert Footage Will Electrify Home Video Market February 3rd, 2004

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2004-- With a set of drum sticks and his 8 mm color home movie camera, musician turned actor Mickey Jones ("Slingblade," "Home Improvement") toured the world in 1966 with Bob Dylan and The Band. "1966 World Tour: The Home Movies" chronicles this legendary and controversial "tour that changed Rock and Roll Forever" when Bob Dylan traded in his acoustic folk guitar for a hard edged, electric sound.
The home movies were recently discovered after being stored among Jones' personal belongings for over 35 years. Upon hearing the news, Joel Gilbert, who performs as Bob Dylan in the tribute band Highway 61 Revisited, convinced Jones to recount the story of the tour via these never-before-seen films. Together, Jones and Gilbert put together a 91-minute DVD that provides a window into music history never witnessed by Bob Dylan fans or fans of music history. "In the beginning, when Dylan first abandoned his acoustic folk rock roots to play electric, we were met with scathing reviews, jeering crowds and a general displeasure for what we were doing on stage. The fact that he discarded the formula that brought him so much fame and success is what made the 1966 World Tour so controversial and a real turning point in music history," said Jones.

In addition to the never-before-seen performance footage across Europe and Australia, the DVD also includes a behind-the-scenes look at Bob Dylan, The Band and members of his entourage visiting European landmarks, traveling in taxis and trains from town to town and goofing around in between shows. Other highlights include 5.1 Audio, rare photos by Rock photographer Barry Feinstein, and performance footage of the Beatles and Chuck Berry during the early stages of their careers. Throughout the DVD, Jones narrates his experience as a professional drummer including being handpicked by Dylan and negotiating his weekly wages with the poet himself.

Consumers will learn about the DVD's retail release through targeted marketing efforts including music Internet fan sites and The King Biscuit Flour Hour Classic Rock radio show heard in over 75 markets nationwide.
