My point is that kerry and/or edwards move to the middle come election time. The move to the middle allows them to play class politics against the wealthy on the margins but being pro middle class tax cuts at the same time. The homeland security issue has yet to be addressed other than all of them saying bush/ashcroft/ridge sucks. So they will come up with something a bit more liberal than ashcroft. And fp is the most interesting because since no wmds found so far, all they need to say is that we could have been more patient and consulted more with allies and UN blah blah blah. Going forward though they have to go on the record with policies for the post iraq period. All will be for preemption if their is a credible threat. They will just define credible differently. Now you get back to that 50/50 mess a la y2k. For bush to break out of that box which may creep up on him next summer he needs to act now by getting cheney to step aside now for "health reasons" and go with a more moderate face to appeal to independents who could get to like kerry/edwards. Remember those moderates loved clinton too and if it werent for the faulty zipper problem they would still support him. Enter kerry and edwards. mike PS the perfect replacement bold choices for veep could be powell giuliani and mccain but all these are unlikely. I cant think of any other national republicans who could add to the ticket. Can you??
