I think it has to do with the fact that to support and believe in market-driven capitalism requires logic and rational objective thought. Artists tend to be (IMO) more emotional, driven rather by thoughts of social justice and equality of outcomes, rather than equality of opportunity.

Weinstein obviously believes in an oligarchic/fascist style of government.... Maybe a few "allowed" votes so the trailers will survey better... :)

I believe I read something years back describing the current prevalence of hard left hollywood types and Artists as a generational reaction (after seeing their elders victimized by it*) to the black lists and McCarthy era in general.

*I think Penn's father was black listed.
