And this is bad why?

Muslim pilgrims skip strict security in U.S.

By TOM GODFREY, Toronto Sun

Toronto-area Muslim leaders say thousands from their community are boycotting travel to the U.S. in their trek to Mecca this month for the holy pilgrimage of Haj. Up to 5,000 Muslims have started travelling from Toronto to Saudi Arabia, bypassing a traditional stopover in New York City due to increased security checks and immigration requirements.

The Jan. 26 to Feb. 1 pilgrimage will be attended by millions of Muslims worldwide.

"Community members feel they're being targeted by U.S. security," Imam Shabir Ally of the Islamic Information Centre said. "Most are avoiding travel to that country."

Ally said there has been a number of incidents in which Toronto-area imams were detained, questioned or refused entry into the U.S. because of their Islamic names.
