Well, the top quintile may earn 50% of all the income,
but they also pay 65.3% of all the taxes under the new tax bill and paid 65.8 % under the old law:

In addition, nearly 30% of all tax filiers will pay no tax at all:

And here's an historical analysis of tax cuts dating back to Kennedy:

I take it from your postings that you think the top
400 earners in the country should have their income
basically confiscated. .

Exactly what fraction of the budget do you think that would foot?

My overall point is that the class warfare approach
the Democrats seem to love is divisive and basically
designed to appeal to the baser instincts of their
constituency. It's the only way they think they can
stay in power or regain power...

The key is controlling spending, not confiscating
the money of any taxpayer at any level.

The problem is that spending cuts are not popular
and don't buy votes.
